I add a chunk of dark cocoa to my chilli honestly. It adds a back note to it. I've always kinda like how deep it tastes

 

also, personal tip, never use the cheap shit beer. you can fucking taste it. I use the craft shit in my chilli

 

Same. Depending on the types of spices you use, the bit of cinnamon in Mexican chocolate can really take your chili up a notch.

I agree with this also. I prefer the toasty, chocolatey notes of a a stout more than the bright citrusy flavors you from some lighter/wheat beers.

If you feel like spending half the day making chili, this recipe is really good. I switch it up a bit, but the base is really good.
