For a lot of years I worked at an oyster bar that had outdoor seating. There were some biggish black birds (grackles I think) who would come and steal the packets of saltines we left out on the table for customers and some little Carolina Wrens who would come and steal sugar packets. They always stole the sweet-n-low packets rather than the Splenda or Equal or real sugar. Never understood what it was that attracted them to artificial sweetner rather than something with actual calories but they always went for the pink packets.
