03/22 - Total Madness Monday

Requester:

Many people have let me know that they aren't able to select more than 1 response per question as well. I'm very sorry, many people are expressing how this will negatively affect them as MTurk workers. I don't know what else I can do, I am a graduate student with a limited budget and just can't afford to throw away $5,000. I really hope that you can understand. I am in contact with MTurk and my supervisor to figure out a solution that works out for all the participants who have completed my survey.

Me:

I completely understand, and am not asking you to waste any of your limited budget. Just send a direct link to the survey outside of MTurk to those who have been rejected and reached out to you. Once completed you can reverse the rejection and it will be like the survey was completed correctly the first time.

Requester:

One difficulty that I'm encountering is locating everyone's emails. It might be the case that I will need to reject everyone's submissions, ask them to send me an email when I provided reasoning for why their submissions were rejected, resend the survey link to everyone's emails, and then reverse the rejected HITs.

Me:

That is most likely the way to do it. Just put in the rejection note that there was an error in the survey, you had to reject the HIT, but an update survey is available through email. Just make sure that once you start getting the updated surveys out to people that you actually reverse the rejections or the Worker community will grab their pitchforks and torches. Rejections are one of the two things that directly affect if workers are able to continue to get HITs through MTurk so unfair rejections based on something on the requester side never sit well.

We figure if I haven't died yet, probably won't any time soon! Super focused on the long-term future now, making choices to benefit that, blah blah blah. Cause it appears I'm not gonna drop dead any time soon, pew pew! These are my confident finger guns!

 

Thank you for talking to her. I did the same and basically emailed her the same thing. She just told me she needs to talk to her supervisor, though. Hopefully she just sends the corrected study to people so the rejections can be reversed. *crosses fingers*

 

Crosses fingers nothing. Ask some of the old timers here about when I used to do ALL the surveys. I'm the worker that grabs the pitchforks and torches.

 

Speaking of which... @Kadauchi @ChrisTurk Is there are reason I can no longer get to the MTS Sidebar?

 

Any update on why there still no link to TV next to the requester information, or are you blaming this on their coding change too?

 

Because on the million mile list of things I need to get done it's honestly just not important

 

K, I'll leave it to you. I've been doing this since 2015. I rarely touch surveys nowadays since it seems like they are more trouble than they are worth sometimes. I mainly just do them in-between batches. Seems like I always get burned on them whenever I decide to do them. : (

so many of them promise a bonus, and I rarely get the bonuses. usually not worth it to survey imo.

 

I knew this was coming, and my retort is that I know you'll tag me about it until the end of days so it's a built in TODO reminder anyway

Speaking of which... CSV file please... especially since @Kadauchi 's MTS update means I cant pull the data from him anymore.

 

Also forreal the most stressful thing in the fucking world is stuff like today where MTurk can just get drunk and do w/e and potentially break EVERYTHING and when it's compounded with trying to get a massive QBC build done it's so fking stressful praying they don't break shit before I can get a release out I actually hate doing this rn
