Basically same thing that you can find in other clouds - it lets you deploy your app and automatically scales it internally so you don't have to worry about resources / bandwidth, etc. Its selling point is that it supports a ton of languages and has been around for a long time. They were pretty popular for a while until Docker / Kubernetes took off and other providers like AWS introduced Elastic Beanstalk, etc etc.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I loathe npm and the whole 236482306476 different packages in 439503485 different projects with 340958423904823346346 files in each one of them thing.
