OK, what's to lose? — If they DQ me from all StudyLab / SurveyComet surveys, I don't care. If they don't, I don't care. If they cause me trouble in some other way, well, I guess it serves me right for being dumb enough to respond to their obnoxious prompt.

 

They block you from a large percentage of work, not just work posted by those two requesters. I know they are still vetting accounts and I don't know if this is their new game. If you really need your MTurk income, you don't want this block. Trust me, I have it. I'm a good worker and have never been below 99%, but they need scapegoats and I got caught in their web.

Has anyone ever actually seen an mTurk bot?

 

I've heard that you can't see most of them. Some of them show up on camera, but that's not guaranteed. You need to use an EMF scanner tool to detect their presence:



Don't remember if that's for ghosts or bots. One of those, anyways.

 

OK — so maybe I've suicided my mturk 'career', idk.

Well, I had a good run. (Actually I didn't. I'm one of the worst and lamest of turkers.)

btw — How about the Amazon profile surveys that come up occasionally? They asked for a bunch of personal details (optional of course). I submitted most of those (not all). Wasn't sure if submitting those would really do me any good or not. IIRC the forum consensus may have been yes, submitting those was OK?

iirc some years ago, there was a bot scare that prompted requestors to add captchas to HITS/surveys. When requestors, tangent sites, and workers started looking into the actual data it turned out to be Indian workers with poor English skills, not bots.

I'm not sure I know what you mean by "Amazon profile surveys". Filling out their basic qualifications should be good.
If you're referring to questions at the bottom of the page where you get the survey link and put in the code, I am pretty sure that's all CloudResearch crap.
