So I guess I did this little 4-minute hit at some point and it changed my entire MTurk life. I have some CR1 or CR2 designation that I'm an Unsatisfactory Worker or some shit. I emailed StudyLab a while back asking if there was anything I could do about my Scarlet Letter, and their response was generic and polite: "There is no one Qualification that will affect you on that level. Our qualifications are given out based on consistent good work. If you do good work consistently, you will be alright." But that appears to be patently untrue. This stupid little 4-minute hit has made about 65% of the work on MTurk unavailable to me, and I'm pretty sure there is nothing I can do about it. So fuck you, StudyLab.

Ouch - I did one of those surveys a few days ago - hoping that they give me the CR1 qualification. Right now I'm in the same boat you are - seems like the vast majority of surveys are locked without it. Sort of surprised (At the same time not really ) that Amazon would allow something like this to occur on MTurk. I guess it's cheaper for them to rely on a third party for quality control.

Just so there's no misunderstanding: you can't take that HIT if you already have CR1 (the good qual) and get screwed and get it revoked or anything like that. You can only take that HIT if you don't have CR1 (or CR2, for that matter). That HIT is basically your application for CR1. It used to be posted by SurveyComet, but they recently moved it to StudyLab.
