I've also noticed since the TikTok that its mainly the same four or five researchers on prolific right now. I think there are a lot that are still holding off on it. That's one thing I like, even if I don't catch one, I can still pull it up from my Windows notifications thanks to the Chrome extension. I like knowing whether its worth leaving an mturk tab.

Like I can't believe that you guys are really making money on Prolific. I don't know if it's my demographics or something. But every time I log in, I only have five available surveys at max. I literally checked for the first time in like a week right now, and I only have 1 available...

Prolific really seems to be a hit and miss. For a long time I saw nothing, then there were days when I could make more than I did on mTurk. And the exchange rate bumps the pay up even more so that's nice. Just check everyday and make sure you answer all their profile questions. They add new ones fairly regularly.

Same here. I was doing really well until late July, but since then I've had one page of returns/submissions. Nearly all have been follow-ups from previous studies, screeners, or one/two minute surveys. A couple for a really specific demo I'm part of.

Its been a mix of a viral Tik Tok where there was a major influx of new users and researchers then pausing/slowing their studies due it (especially due to the very high % of females vs males) and universities being off during the summer. Also, paradoxically part of the really dry spell is due to researchers who actually do want new users who are inexperienced with all the psychological dilemmas (e.g. would you prefer to save 200 people for sure or 50/50 chance of zero or 600 people being saved?).

 

I made $4 on prolific yesterday just seeing if I could remember the cover of my college biology book from 1997. One looked familiar but I wasn't sure and said as much and bingo, approved with 2 or three more high paying follow-ups in the coming weeks. That is literally the only time taking biology in college has been useful!
