On my pathetic laptop with limited memory, when I open several tabs,
the Chrome browser often tries to conserve memory by suspending whatever's running in some of the tabs.

So my HIT scanner or other important things will just quietly stop running. :\

Some discussions elsewhere mentioned a workaround.

In Chrome, go to — chrome://discards/

There you can find a list of the tabs that are running.
For only the ones that need to keep "running", turn OFF the "Auto Discardable" option.

That seems to be helping — now my important tabs should keep running
(provided that enough memory remains available for them to be able to continue running).

(That toggle setting isn't persistent though. You have to turn it off again the next time you create such tabs.)
