Hey all.

To follow up on my job hunt, I got offered 2 jobs yesterday. Walmart of all places pulled my resume off Indeed and offered me 9-6 5 days a week at 16 an hour, the Vet assistant job I'm interested in for the job that it is cause I love animals offered me a job for 12.

How in the fuck does Walmart pay more than being a surgery prep at a vet person? I'd rather work at the Vet but I don't think that pays enough money.

What do you all think?

Curious as to what position you were offered at Walmart for $16/hour?

 

Personal shopper, so if you order online I run around the store getting the items.

 

Depends on your walmart. I would not work at the one by me for $30 an hr, it's just so gross.

 

This one is the nicest one in the area, it was built in the last 5 years and is in an area where everything is new in upscale, it's a high end suburb.

 

as someone with 17 years in grocery retail, the industry currently is... not great and a company like Walmart will wear you down in no time. You will do 50x more work at Walmart than you would at a vet.

 

Could you counter offer with the Vet? Around here vets and techs are in serious short supply, if it's like that where you are just tell the vet about the walmart offer, maybe they can match.

 

I understand that but 16 an hour will pay my bills, 12 I'd have to supplment my income.

 

I didn't say not to take the job, but that's why the pay is different

 

I tried, I was like I have other offers and she told me she couldn't go higher and told me how she loses out on people because McDonalds pays more and how you gotta love it to do it. I love animals but I don't wanna struggle every month either.
