So. Interesting story. Thursday I was in the middle of a survey. Around 10:30 pm. All the sudden I hear a weird noise, and look toward it. I looked up, and saw a bird in the house. It was flying around the tall part of my vaulted ceiling. I had been in and out on the back deck all night because the weather was warmer, and figured it came in with me and I didn't realize it. Welp. All of the sudden, it swooped down AT me. I jumped up, knocked over my iced tea, and dropped my computer. Yes it still works. Why was I scared? I realized the "bird" wasn't a bird at all, but a bat instead. I opened the back door, went on the deck, and kept calling it in true "here kitty kitty" form. Well, bats apparently don't respond to that. I'm looking around to figure out how I can get this thing out, all the while ducking every time it swoops at me. Eventually it flew in the opposite direction of the door, and went down the hallway to my bathroom. Not knowing what else to do, I shut it in there, packed a bag, and texted my parents. I told them not to shoot when they heard the front door, because I was coming to stay the night. Well, I didn't even return to the bat cave until yesterday. I taped a butterfly net to the end of a pole, and had to get a ladder in the tiny bathroom to climb up and get this damn thing. My 80 year old dad is holding the ladder, I'm donning a motorcycle helment, gloves, and my butterfly net, screaming at this bat the whole time. Thankfully it slept heavy. I covered it with the net, slid it along the wall, and ALMOST got it down to dad before my net turned, the bat got out, and I started screaming. I dropped the net, told him to get it, and that it was okay if I fell off the ladder. Sweat was pouring from every part of my body. Thankfully it landed and didn't fly around so he could put the net over it. With some flat cardboard slid behind net, we got it IN the net, and out the door. I don't EVER want to experience that again. There's your entertainment for the day.
