I wasn't aware they gave away the answers on reddit. Although it also makes you think.... if they are fine underpaying on the qual, and letting a bunch of folks suffer ... and then not re open the qual for years, I guess they get to do that.

That qual. I think to date, that may be my worst qual experience on Mturk, in 5 years. It does mitigate seeing all those high value HITs on Mturk from this requester... remembering that qual I think, would you want to work with someone, who does that?

Several workers are happy with them, and that's fine too.

Oof, I'm sorry to hear about your experiences. The instance where someone gave away the answer on reddit was someone who was qual'ed already and I'm not sure of their motives. I've had the qual for ~5 years now and have seen the requester go through several phases. They have a really good team now and they are former turkers and they listen to feedback and they have a Slack for VRAPI where you can ask questions and talk directly with the supervisory staff there. If the qual test goes out again, it wouldn't be a bad idea to try again. Yes, the qual test sucks but it's done that way on purpose. And I would expect it to be tricky and there is a set answer, so check it twice, check it three times, check it a hundred times before you submit. If you can find the qual test rentals, you can find (nearly) any rental basically.

I had the qual but I didn't do it very often because I felt like there was usually a bad hourly by the time I looked through all the ones I couldn't find to get to one I could. And then I lost the qual for being inactive. I feel like it would have been nice to send out a warning email first so I could have had a chance at keeping it.
