    Unless you're married filing jointly. Then you double the standard deduction, making it even harder to beat!

    Speaking of taxes, tax day was yesterday, right? I go to a CPA and at the appt they said they'd make the amount automatically get paid from my checking account and it hasn't gone yet...

    Well yeah. But some of the itemized deductions are household-based, like mortgage interest. That only counts once. Others, like healthcare-costs, are usually higher when you have more people. But if we were both single living separately with our own mortgages, we'd have more mortgage interest to claim. That's what I mean about making it harder.

    Thankies. We usually have the pay-in happen before the deadline but things got wonky with paperwork this year and so it got pushed to the last minute. I hate having this large of a balance in my checking account!

    Two weeks until our students have finals. There's no way there aren't graduate students scrambling to get their dissertations written. Maybe they're all running data instead?
