Right. But PRE will eventually get you temporarily timed out and the error that person had when they said the site was down. That's a time out.

 

Grr.. missed the remesh.

 

If this was the case I would have long been banned, I don't think this is true.

 

Do you have anything to confirm that? Because the error as shown in the screenshot does not say anything of the sort and I haven't seen anything officially stating such...

Its just what people are speculating which IMO is wrong. I regularly get the error with no PREs, no pandas, no catchers, just trying to open MTurk to start working

I don't have anything to confirm that. That's just what they used to say back in the day. Maybe it doesn't matter now.

 

The error didn't even start happening until earlier this year. Its a recent thing

Maybe it was all a rumor. I don't know. That's just what I remember people saying about 6-7 years ago.

 

It does seem to be triggered sometimes by the same kinda activity that can cause PREs, but its not all that is going on. I only keep chiming on this issue cus I want to know what is going on for sure

 

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just want to clarify everything.. you're saying you've seen this specific error 6 years ago? Cus as far as I know, it has never appeared on MTurk until this year

 

Well I use that PRE calculator that I posted because of this very issue so that I don't get them. I don't want to take any chances/

 

No I'm not saying I got that error 6 years ago. I'm saying that too many PREs get you timed out (maybe the error was different back then, I don't remember) and too many time outs get you banned. That's what they used to say. Maybe Mturk doesn't give a shit anymore. I don't know.

 

This is definitely a different warning than the PRE warning that makes you fill out a captcha. I have had a few of those over the years. Not sure if this is related to PRE's or not but it might be because I got 21 PRE's in quick succession today.

With that said I have had days where I had hundreds of PRE's and never got any kind of warning at all. Who knows.

 

I think you're getting confused about the errors. The error being posted about here isn't the PRE error. If you look at the screenshot included, you can see its entirely different

 

I was just letting you know that those resources may not be reliable, as I remember there was a similar rumor at the time that letting HITs time out would lead to a ban and since QBC came out I've learned that that's also not true.
