I don't understand how MTurk allows these people to break every rule on the platform and sabotage them on social media. Still pretending requesters prefer data from a hand picked pool of predictable participants.

Thankfully Prolific doesn't play these games.

Prolific is clearly the best survey platform online these days and the environment is great. I actually like to do writing hits over there because I know they genuinely want to know what I'm writing, unlike the low quality CR requester nonsense "bot check" writing.

Idk, I'd say Connect comes out looking worse. That post shows the kind of tactics I'd expect from two small-town dueling gas stations or something, not a B2B outfit that thinks it can take Amazon on in, well, anything. (If what that post says about Amazon/mTurk is true, that obviously isn't great for them, but it also doesn't look like Connect has the size/leverage/power to get the kind of results they want out of making claims like that. If they did, Amazon would be forced to respond. But since Amazon is, as Jane says, apparently unbothered, Connect ends up looking like they're throwing rocks at a tank. Which is far worse for them, business-wise, to seem like they can't back up their claims right as they're trying to build their reputation.)

I, uh. I wish them luck with that.

 

Connect isn't even that great to be blowing smoke up their own y'knows. at least for my demos.. and I swear every single req over there waits the entire time period before it goes into auto accept it's so slooooooow. I mean, they've got angela listy so they really shouldn't be feeling so high and mighty lol

Pros:
The Stills account is from the from the same people who did the Musicbed stuff, as it's a new account for them. Expect the same amount of communication and the pay time as you would from the originals.

Cons:
Two Emails were sent all workers, in the first one, they said that they believed that the stills would take much less time and be much faster then the Musicbeds therefore paying more. In the second one, after workers ended up up not doing them at all and they stacked up in the thousands, they apologized and said that they didn't mean to make it so slow, and that they would fix it.

The funny thing is that people who say "oh my god never using mTurk again" are dumb because Connect literally comes from people who created TurkPrime, which turned into CloudResearch, a study intermediary that was created entirely for the purpose to protect people who were running studies on mTurk without getting burned. They're *still* running their software on mTurk platform, so until they pull it, they are basically talking trash for no reason. It's completely asinine.

Because Amazon doesn't give a shit. I thought we've long established this already. Amazon doesn't even care about Twitch. What makes you think they care about mTurk?

 

Over the past two and a half years I've corresponded with several requesters who grew tired of their crap and directed me to Prolific. They have their fingers in everything. I called them "the Cambridge Analytica of online surveys" as a joke, but I really wonder if I was spot on. Something isn't right with them.
