I love what Prolific has been doing, okay I'll get used to their new logo and colors, but they have really picked up where MTurk has failed. I'm so happy and grateful for the requesters sending me there for their studies when CloudResearch started their fuckery. I'm also really happy most requesters see through the CloudResearch manipulative bullshit and have moved on to Prolific. These days I'm only on MTurk for the batch work. It's amazing how Prolific has been able to grow and I really feel good about participating there.

 

Why do you think Cloud is manipulative? I think they have the most fair requestors of all 3 platforms. I only wish they had more studies.

OMG, where do I begin?
They seem to be screening for a certain type of participant that has nothing to do with the studies or the requester's intentions. I've communicated with several requesters who were disturbed by the way their studies were ruined by participants cut from access halfway through (CR2). But really I think what should bother people most is what seems like racial profiling, that's the only term that comes to mind. The reason they show a picture of an eggplant is to see if you call it a brinjal since that's what it's called in India. So rather than use the tool provided to screen by country, they target all people of Indian heritage. My grandmother from Finland used the term "dust bucket", another candidate for CR2 from CloudResearch. That might have got me mine, along with my foolishness in being honest about how many HITs I've done. These folks started the fake "bot" panic, then when they admitted they were wrong they blamed it on "low quality workers from India". I have not and will not sign up for their silly Connect platform, they're having a hard time giving it away to requesters. I hear they don't consider working with a hand picked pool of predictable participants to be real research. I'll stick with Prolific. But I still cheer for you to go to Connect and take all their money.
