Yeah, it's been happening ALL DAY for me. Lost a few hits cuz I either timed out or it just failed to submit smh

Has anyone called Amazon to complain about this lately?
Let them know this has nothing to do with scripts or anything but their lame ass system. Whatever they've been doing over the past year has ruined everything. They need to go back to how they were doing things back in the days when there was actually shit happening on MTurk. Amazing a huge company can't even keep this running.

 

Due to the AWS billing issues, I think Amazon lost so many requesters that they reduced the number of servers that they use for MTurk, and that's why we have this poorly degraded platform now. It's only a matter of time before MTurk ceases to be. I just wish batches would move to Prolific.

That's exactly right, they don't care about MTurk.

 

When MTurk was super busy we never had this problem. My bet is they implemented some kind of "security" software. I've called them in the past and it's pretty obvious customer service has a scripted response, first asking about scripts and never giving a straight answer. I too wish more work would move to Prolific, but they really aren't set up for batch work. They seem to be into the academic aspect so I don't see them going to batches anytime soon.

You guys may laugh at me for saying this, but I've been an Amazon customer for probably 25 years. I used to love Amazon, all things Amazon from buying stuff to working on MTurk. Since Bezos stepped down, everything has gone to hell. Not only MTurk, but Amazon itself is like an online vending machine. I get free gift cards from Bing but still prefer to order stuff from eBay. I get a real person to communicate with and free shipping with no minimum purchase.

 

It was clear they didn't care about MTurk when they let CloudResearch destroy the platform and abuse good workers with their nonsense. At least this gave me a head start in the exodus to Prolific. Unfortunately Amazon seems to only care about corporatism these days. As long as they can replace people with AI it's only going to get worse.

 

I think its a mixture of security software and reduced servers that are causing us grief, but yes I've been turking on/off for 7 years with no issues until the last several months... For example, maybe Prolific requesters could setup studies that included say 10 simple tasks for $1 instead of a single task for 10 cents like on MTurk. There has to be a way to implement batches, right? Maybe the current platform can't support it as it is right now, but hopefully in the near future it can. We can always hope, right?

I've been a Amazon shopper for at least 25 years or more. I'm a Prime member, so I always get free shipping. I split the yearly membership cost with a family member, so its not too bad.
