Jury studies on Connect can take a hike though.

 

So I'm pretty new at this this work. I signed up for Prolific and am on the waitlist. I hear people have been on the waitlist for over a year now. Any tricks to getting in? I'm on Connect, but not much there for me yet. Any other places I might try?

For me, I jumped on Prolific years ago, but never had much luck finding studies so I didn't check there very often. Just now and again to keep my account alive, but mturk was still alive and kicking then. I can understand why they have a waitlist now, but I don't have a clue about any tricks to get in.

 

I'm only on MTurk and Prolific. I do alright, I have a couple quals on MTurk to keep it worthwhile. I won't go near Connect. Go ahead and take all their money, but they're way too shady for me. Evidently I'm not the only one who thinks so, they've been offering their platform for free and few researchers have taken the bait. Just don't give them your MTurk ID if they ask. They have no business asking, and they have made comments about being able to block people from certain studies by using MTurk IDs. They're all about gerrymandering the participant pool.

I hope you get into Prolific soon, where are you located? I think a lot depends on your demographics. That's where the action is, researchers formerly on MTurk have been sending me there for nearly three years.

OH NO. I already gave them my Mturk ID... I have been noticing things are real quiet for me on MTurk lately. I hope the two are not related. Oh no I hope I didn't screw this up, I've got no other consistent income...

The two are very much related. CloudResearch has pretty much taken over a lot of MTurk. Many researchers go through them to get on the platform and the infamous rhsnlk98 >= 100 is the new CR#1. From what I hear you're not missing much on Connect. Prolific is the place to be for surveys these days. I think they have a ton of stuff for U.S. participants so hopefully you'll get in soon. You might want to reach out to them and ask.
