Back after a LONG break, just reentering the grind for some extra cash. Probably know some of you from MTG back in the day, anyone remember TwinLakes, SubjectiveLanguage, Stanford GSB, MFlab and TOSS? Some good memories doing these hits with my buddies in the daily threads. Man, what else... remember the minimum wage debates lol? Looking forward to being back at the battlestation with the crew again!
heyy, im new too, can't really find HITs to do, requesters don't reply and qualifications or tests are not available i need help
Hey Jennifer. The initial MTurk grind is rough. The important thing to establish during this is a workflow and an understanding of PANDA etc, this way you work smarter, not harder. Keep your feelers out for quals and make friends. It's important to have people looking out for you and people who can joke with you when the going gets rough. Make sure you have a multi monitor setup. Ideally you have at least two monitors... A widescreen with email and your task you are working on and a second screen with your scraper. Make sure you have another monitor with something relaxing on it... I work on music while Turking. Having a "side grind" to MTurk is key to keeping your sanity. If you're using Linux a "tiling window manager" makes life very easy to quickly rearrange windows, you can even macro this so if you're anticipating a certain task/workflow you can, say, have your main monitor minimize the email and bring up a calculator and notepad and resize your HIT window automatically. There's even smaller stuff like automatically capturing your clipboard and outputting it to a text file, that way you have a window in your note application that always has EVERYTHING you've copy/pasted. This is really useful for when you're in the zone and need to remember something you just did. Figuring out little tricks like this actually make an enormous difference. If you're solid on the mechanics you will just be FLYING through HITs as you become qualified. So yeah, this wasn't about HITs or requesters... Because where you're at you need to get "set up" and have a good workflow. My 2cents. Hope this helps.
