can any canadians here say if you can accept a hit today? we know brazil and the US can't. italy and the UK apparently can.

@leafs4_cup pls let us know! or tag a canadian if anyone know of one, because there are definitely more canadians on this forum.

 

anybody have any more questions for awesome turker from italy? I don't think you usually stick around and post a lot even though you participate sometimes. so if you want to go thank you so much for stopping by looks like we have more info now!

P.S. if you participate or are aware of any mturk forums that have more european or asian participants, please tell us what they are. or tell them we want to talk to them. they must exist, but idk what they are. would help greatly in ruling in or out geography as the problem.

My worker account is the same as everyone else. I can't accept hits

We haven't bothered putting any additional work out there from our requester account, and haven't heard anything back from Amazon.

Basically, we have nothing to add

 

I'm from italy and can't accept any hits. Just tried with Shop by Interest and got:

No outage I was aware of, except if it was in my sleep hours. I've made the last HITs yesterday night, and reprised to work this morning (about 14 hours ago) as usual.

 

Just now arriving at the 24 hour mark I think my catcher started to fail around 3PM EST yesterday.

 

Yeah, my catcher completely shut down. Then when I reopened it, it wouldn't even try to catch hits so I restarted my entire computer, then when I reopened it again, it wanted me to do a capchta. Then when I did that, it just said there is an error and my dashboard and attempting to open all HITs would give me an error. Then about an hour later I tried again and it was at least attempting to catch hits but the PRE was apparently at 100% and I didn't notice for at least three hours. Now I can't even open hits without it telling me to fuck off, but everything else works.

 

oh look at this! this graph shows a huge plunge in US workers today. keep in mind the researcher/professor who made it is really nice for making that graph and giving us access to it so BE NICE if anyone emails him to ask for specific countries, hour by hour, and if he has any other info that could help us figure out what happened.

yeah and the graph groups countries like this - US, India, Other Countries. the huge change is "Other Countries" way up and US way down.

also if you change the date range to be aug 28-aug 28 (near the top of that webpage in the dropdown menus) it gives weird data. if you then change it to "Hourly" instead of "Daily" (also near the top of that webpage) it gives more informative data.

I mean this doesn't fix it obviously but helps narrow down the problem maybe.

 

I don't know, maybe I have hit a limit and I am not allowed to do anymore HITs right now or something... I could look at preview for HITs but when I accept them I get error message. Something is definitely not working for sure.

 

@purplepotato aren't you from India but living and turking in the US for at least a year? are you able to accept hits today and yesterday evening/night?

 

before today, yeah I see that now. agreed it is interesting, I didn't know that.

according to this graph, everyone who has been able to work on mturk today is male. globally, including the US. that graph might not be right...or it might be.

so this could be a quals problem. involving location and gender. and maybe other quals. I'm going to get a cup of coffee. it's still relatively early on a wednesday, if I can get the nerve up I might call that Panos Ipsneros guy and leave a voicemail asking if he thinks the graph is still right...it's pretty old by now iirc. and asking if he can help us narrow down the problem any further. I mean it won't do any good probably but you never know.

according to the graph, all people who could work on mturk today were born from 1980 - 2000. no one born before 1980 has been able to turk today.
