that guy who was here yesterday who could still turk yesterday, he got his mturk payments through Hyperwallet. idk if that makes a difference.

 

I didn't even know US customers could use hyperwallet.

Not really, it still went through the MTurk payment system.

 

I wonder if the people from brazil have hyperwallet or mturk payments. Is there many people outside the US that are affected?

 

you could tag the 2 brazilians who were here yesterday. they might stop by and have some info.

 

@Thayse , @Angelica89 , @Alexandra Costa can you guys turk still today? any problems or error messages in regards to your Amazon Payments account? do you use Hyperwallet/Paypal to get your mturk payments instead of or with Amazon Payments account? you guys are all turking in Brazil, right?

 

Yes thanks God everything solved yesterday, nothing wrong with my account till now, I get my mturk payment through the payoneer account, I checked earlier if account details still there, as I saw the other turkers complaining about payment issues and accounts suspended!
I hope the accounts suspended be just a bug and you guys get your account back for good!

 

I got my abbreviations mixed up yesterday thinking about GDPR, but I meant DAC7. It seemed odd that the two people posting here in the EU could still work. I wonder if the multiple rounds of filling out DAC7 (or not filling out if people skipped it) somehow caused the current problems people are having.

 

for the record because it sounds interesting in that context my account is currently fine and i'm in the US and never really interacted with that DAC7 stuff at all(because I never even got any emails about it for whatever reason)

I posted this a couple of days ago, but it’s worth repeating: bad actors might be creating new Amazon accounts with stolen SSNs, and Amazon could be flagging both accounts for using the same SSN. I also gig with Amazon Flex and drivers who don’t have an SSN of their own buy them. There are probably other ways someone could use an Amazon account where an SSN is required, so it could be worth making thousands to sell the ones that stick.

I highly recommend freezing your credit reports ASAP. While this might not stop someone from creating a new Amazon account, it’s a solid move to protect yourself in general.

My bank account is still listed and verified but I have the Amazon payments suspension. It’s so crazy

 

According to TurkOpticon, they posted on the TN Slack forum that...

"Several workers (+150) have been suspended from MTurk in the last 5 days, supposedly for unverified information about their Amazon Payments account. However, they have been actively working on the platform for years, some even more than a decade, without any issues."

Mind you that number, 150, is for only those who filled out the form on their site. The actual number is likely MUCH higher than that.

 

Call them and tell them somebody hacked it, and have them verify that your bank account is verified.

 

I’m in the US and never got an emails about filling out a DAC7 and my payments account just got suspended

 

I tried to call and it says the Amazon payments call back center is currently unavailable.

stuff to fax -

1. driver’s license or an equivalent government issued Identification Document (ID)
2. write your first and last name at the top of the page
3. write the email address associated with your mturk account

they might or might not ask you to fax these. this way it would be already done. at least this is what they used to want people to do when they stopped being able to turk due to amazon wanting to re-verify their identity or account.

just wondering have you guys done this yesterday or today? I think it's worth a try.

 

I checked both sites in the news and while there are a bunch of people in my state with my name that were compromised, none of them were me...

 

How lame. Call every number you can find for Amazon and tell them all you have been hacked. Play dumb.
