find a semi decent reporter that wants a good story about what happened to amazon mturk. give them the information. now where to find that reporter. i know. put a hit on amazon report to take applications.

 

Maybe call every Amazon customer service number and ask them what they are doing about the data breach. If they have no answers, ask them who to contact about this issue, or should you just wait to see it on the 5 O'clock news?

 

Unless there was a hack in May/June, I doubt that's the case.

 

Well, they got me too. Hopefully this gets resolved soon since it is widespread. Off to Prolific, Connect and PaidViewpoint for now.

A null pointer in a forced update by an extraordinary coder in a competitively priced locale.

It's still possible the Amazon Pay issue is related to the National Public Database breach. It was actually obtained back in December 2023, and I believe first sold around April 2024.

Damn... It's gotta be thousands of turkers suspended by now. Why are they screwing up everyone's labor day weekend? They effed me out of $100 this week. Luckily, I received my bonus from my $0.00 hits last night so I'll make the bill I use MTurk for but no eating out for awhile. Well, as long as my deposit hits my account by Tuesday rather than Sunday/Monday morning as scheduled... Gonna make spaghetti tonight because it's cheap and will last for days.

 

if anyone knows or has time to find out what the character limit is for sending a message through mturk, would be appreciated if you could post it here or on another day if you see this later.

I still have some hits in my queue that I can do from Hotel Photos. I have the Top Five qualification and it is my qualification that I am the most proud of. I have 2,684,352 approved hits since around 2009. Hundreds of Mturk workers that we know of, including me, have had our Mturk accounts shut down over the last few days. I believe the number is probably in the thousands. Once our queues are empty, we can no longer turk. Amazon Mturk is telling us to contact Amazon Pay/Amazon Payments. Amazon Pay/Amazon Payments is telling us to contact Mturk.

Please help us by contacting Amazon and insisting they reinstate our ability to work on the Mturk platform. Some of us think they might listen to the requesters more readily than the workers. Turkopticon is a workers' organization that has been really helpful in trying to communicate with Amazon Mturk and Payments.

Alternatively, can you please email us with the location of the new platform where your work will be?

Both Connect and Prolific offer batch work, however only a few requestors use it. I have several regs that I do batch work for on both platforms. you might mention that...

 

could be if one is contacting requesters, might be a good idea to let them know we suspect some "hacking" going on. they could be next.

 

Cloudstrike wasn't a hack, it was an administrative failure. It also only impacted companies that primarily used one OS (specifically windows).

 

go read about what happened to columbus ohio at that time. though they say they don't know exactly what caused it.
