Hello, I have a deep fryer. It's not currently on the countertop but yas, I do own one and have had one for...oh wow, 8 years or so? They aren't expensive. Not that it really matters mind you. But, ya know, the Birbs has all the kitchen stuff.

 

For light usage I feel like you would waste a lot of oil unless you can save the old oil somehow?

It would be a cool thing to own but it would take up a lot of counter space.

I would prob pick one up if I had a larger kitchen. I know that they are cheap I just don't see many people with one.

One time when we went camping, we fried 6 pounds of bacon over the course of an afternoon in a deep cast iron pan over our campfire. Eventually we ended up with so much bacon grease that they were starting to deep fry within 30 seconds, and then adding to said grease until it was a good 2 inches deep. We then battered random chocolate bars that were kicking around with pancake batter.

When that first experimental snickers fell into the grease, and perfectly deep fried, you have never seen 4 guys hug each other so hard.

The women chirped us the whole time, but I'll be damned if they didn't eat everything we deep fried in that pan of bacon grease.

I just saw my first IRL drone last week at the park. The thing hovered over us, and I was all "Oh hey look, a drone!" and then it dipped very close to us, probably only about 4 feet above me. I reached down to pick up the leash, and it flew away. Very weird, and it completely creeped me out when I realized somebody somewhere was watching me during that exchange.

 

I have one don't use it all the time but there are certain things that are better fried or just faster like wings

 

Personally, I filter and recycle oil for deep frying and store it. Very useful for any time I'm making wontons or fried ravioli from scratch or something of that nature and I don't want to just pan fry. It's way more effective. It also seriously doesn't take up a lot of counter space at all, unless you wanted a huge one for some reason. I keep mine under the counter in my cabinets. It's been everywhere with me from the room I rented to my apartment to my house so it's been kicking around with me for a long time now.

 

I have a small tin next to the stove for this exact purpose (olive oil) My grandma did it, my mom does it, now me~

Yeah I know they make ones that are a bit bigger than a standard toaster but I don't really have space for that in my kitchen.
