Maybe after decades of data harvesting, categorizing, labeling, training algorithms, and training AIs, Amazon has analyzed everything and determined that its AI capabilities now surpass that of the average turker. As a symbolic gesture, they will complete the suspension of all workers and shutdown the platform on Labor Day, one final big F you to the workers.

 

My payments account said suspended starting Wednesday, but I tried today and it is working
I did a PickFu to check and it submitted. I had filled out the turkopticon form and contacted mturk and amazon pay. The only response I ever received was the one from mturk saying "not us" and to email amazon pay. Crossing fingers this sticks and everyone gets their accounts unsuspended.

 

Can anyone confirm if the following is true? All people suspended are able to accept and submit tasks only if the payment of the task is $0.00.

People who signed up after they stopped using the Payments accounts for MTurk may be safe.

 

I'm not currently suspended, but when most people couldn't access the platform at all (August 27th?), I noticed the same thing - I couldn't accept any paid tasks but I could do the Profile Information HITs paying 0 from Amazon Mechanical Turk Team.

Other thoughts on who can still work: To those not suspended, what is your oldest pending HIT? Since this appears to be some issue with payment accounts, I wonder if once things clear through a certain date, maybe a week or two ago or whenever this started, everyone will be toast. I have a pending HIT from August 5th, and maybe people will have a maximum ability to turk through late September if they don't fix things.

Oldest pending hit is from last Sunday, when did you sign up for mturk, I id around early 2017.

ah yes ... but remember the bot attack of august 2018. they lost a lot or requesters.

Yes, I can accept and submit hits that are $0.00. . Have also received confirmation from Mturk that my Mturk account is not suspended, but rather my Amazon Payments account.

have you updated your bank info lately? I have not, but its only from 2017. if you haven't then this is as random as it can get as far as I can tell.

 

OMG MY MTURK IS WORKING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

This is within the past couple hours, I checked this morning and still received the suspended message, now it’s working. I just submitted a pickfu to test lol
