I'm pretty sure all the batches that requester posted around the same time had low or no quals. that's why I thought new turkers who spoke little or no english could have done a lot of them. I could be misremembering but I don't think they were masters hits.

 

I turned in that form. I found three still pending with only one rejected. so maybe their reviews aren't reflecting the rejections if they are rejecting one hit group at a time. they had a lot of hit groups up at the same time iirc.

I sent them a message explaining the impact of mass rejections on legitimate workers.

 

Turkopticons tweet about the mass rejection. I am speaking at a conference tomorrow (about the poor treatment of dataworkers!) so I'll be scarce, but I will try to check in if I get down time.

 

if that's them at that linkedin link, I really don't think they should be in business at all. it looks like all they are doing is taking a cut of what their customers (our requesters) would pay workers through mturk. like HUMACI or whatever is using current buzzwords around technology/AI to get customers who are uneducated or somewhat older or non-tech savvy professionals. like, corporate types with an assignment who don't understand AI. I want to report them to Mturk or Amazon or AWS, but I don't want to seem like a hassle to Mturk or AWS. I don't know if they care.

maybe it's just a couple of people in bangalore who will just get jobs and go away.

 

Last time with AI Insights we did eventually get a meeting with Amazon about the issue but they didn't do anything (even after admitting the requester was in the wrong) But you don't have to stick your own neck out if you are uncomfortable, Turkopticon is really good at being a thorn in Amazons side.

 

I wonder if there will be a lot of these kinds of "businesses" popping up over the next five years or so. that literally do nothing but take a cut. because people really don't understand they could probably get better results themselves on mturk, they just don't understand ai. or aai.

 

Oh I'm sure of it, everyone is trying to get some of that AI money.

 

maybe it would help if mturk had a super easy, "explain it to me like I'm four" type of page full of the same AI buzzwords these fake so-called businesses use. so google etc. would direct them to the real deal instead of fake businesses. because in the past and now, I think people have to actually be looking for mturk to find mturk. or use increasingly archaic terms. unless it has updated recently.

like you have to google "machine learning mechanical turk" or whatever.

 

Also tentative name for lil boy is Rougarou, since he reminds me of a lil werewolf.

TS Francine wreaked mayhem on my mountain. Everything is solar with grid back up, but grid is still down, just here. So solar was so covered with limbs and leaves, leaves baked on, it took a few days to remove the crap and then scrub the panels. I have internet using my phones hotspot but I can`t turk AND I looked at my Mturk on my phone this evening and found Mass rejections from HUMACI and their response is that THEIR system is flawed and it`s THEIR fault but we just have to accept it, I`m a requester too, it`s EASY to fix rejections. People say Mturk is dying, it`s because some requester`s just don`t care!

This is exactly why I use a tiny nuclear reactor to power my house. It only takes up a tiny part of my garage and I enrich my own uranium too. Had a few accidents when I was first learning, so wiped out a few neighborhoods (I wasn't home at the time of explosion, so I wasn't hurt, and never saw my neighbors again, so I assume they were okay too). But now I moved to a new place and set everything up again, hopefully it'll be running fine this time.

 

just watch out for the spies. they come around between 2 and 5 am on random weekdays. they're from local dairies, so their trucks have big glasses of milk and possibly ice cream on the sides. DO NOT BE FOOLED.

I just woke up fairly recently after a refreshing 1.5-hour sleep (kill me please) and am getting ready to tackle the day (it's 7:48 am here, 7-hour difference with US Eastern time). Popped Nuvigil (150 mg), caught up on the news and other things I care about, had a 20-25 minute swim in the pool, then took a shower, and am now about to have breakfast: scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, canned cod liver, a side of sweet corn, and a Coke (regular, never diet). After breakfast I'll take my morning vitamins: Thorne 2/Day Multi, Thorne D-1000, Thorne Super EPA Omega-3, Pure Encapsulations Lutein/Zeaxanthin. I will then make myself a cup of French pressed coffee and get to doing some god damn motherfucking work.
