07/15 - Salient Saturday!

Anybody like Akira,Cowboy Bebop or Death Note? Those were some of my favorites.

 

The Akira movie is very good from a technical standpoint, but after reading the manga, I don't like it so much. Death Note should've ended about midway through. Cowboy Bebop is a classic, and one of the very few anime that's also as good dubbed as it is in the original language, maybe even better.

I haven't watched any anime in years, but those were my jams lol. Akira was so many 80s babies introduction into anime I figure.

 

I stopped about halfway through deathnote when a certain individual was no Longer around. Haven't read Akira, but was one of the first anime movies I watched and enjoyed. The Metropolis remake is really good if you're looking for a movie

Yeah, you stopped Death Note at exactly the right point. It only goes downhill from there. The Akira manga is pretty good, and the ending actually makes sense once you think about it for a bit. Haven't watched Metropolis yet, but it's been on my list for a while. My anime backlog ended up getting so out of hand I just stopped watching anime and went to go play video games instead. Haven't kept up with the current stuff in a few years. Besides Jojo and Little Witch Academia, at least.

 

Metropolis is amazing. The backgrounds are glorious massive amazing artworks and the ending is god-tier. I get goosebumps every time I think about it.

If you're a fan of pretty backgrounds, you should check out Makoto Shinkai's works. 5 Centimeters per Second, Voices From a Distant Star, and Hoshi Wo Ou Kodomo that I already mentioned, not a big fan of the Garden of Words. Also, Tekkon Kinkreet is a fantastic movie with incredibly detailed backgrounds and some nice animation as well. The artstyle's pretty unique too, and if you like the movie, I can also wholeheartedly recommend the manga it's based on.

anyone got a time on the 6 dollar drug case hit for $6 is it really 90min...?

 

The TO seems like it's pretty crummy, however it's possible that it's a different version of the HIT. I chose to skip it.
