Honestly my only saving grace is that I don't work in the main pharmacy any more and have switched over to be part of our drug diversion team. So I don't have to physically handle drugs to do my current job, though I imagine if I couldn't recert quickly my boss would have some pressing questions to answer.

This happened to my sister sort of. Her nursing license was held up at the state department. They had lost her check that she paid for the renewal. She never got an expiration letter so she just went about her business, thinking that she had successfully renewed. She was operating awhile technically without her renewed license. The hospital is almost always the ones held responsible for checking things like that due to their insurance requirements. I would highly imagine your job would be held to the same standard. They wouldn't fire you because they would be at fault just as much as you would be for not staying current on who is up to date with their certifications.
