    I'm being kept on as a contracted freelancer through the rest of the year and we're discussing my contract again after that, so my dream of hoping I'd be supplied insurance is a bust. :/

    Your internship/SE status change may qualify you as well, that's way murkier though.

    They're annoying, but calling an insurance broker may be worth the shot in the dark. Its free & although they'll try to upsell you their junk they'll also confirm if you can find a way in to one of the enrollment qualifiers for freesies ;)

    My husband and I pay $476 a month for insurance. We have a deductible of over $7k a year. My 10 year old has insurance through medicaid since he has Cystic Fibrosis & end stage liver disease. Medicaid is a huge help since he averages about 2 million a year in basic medical stuff. But in the years since he's been born we've already managed to rack up $100k in medical debt that wasnt covered and it just keeps getting worse. Insurance for anyone is a joke in this country. The more money we make the less that's covered. Yet we'll never make enough to pay it off. I'm 32 years old and have already filed for bankruptcy on hospital bills. Thats literally it. No credit card debt, nothing else in collections. JUST my sons medical bills. I myself think healthcare should be free for everyone. How someone can put a price on anyones life is beyond me. I will never under this crap.

    I had it for many years but never used it cause I never went over my deductible- - thought this is ridiculous- but always carry medical on my car insurance.

    Yeah, I can look into it more but so far it looks like I can't get health stuff til November. But I mainly just need to update my eye prescription and go to the dentist because I haven't been in forever. It seems like I can at least go ahead and buy that stuff. So I'll have teeth and eyes, but my body might shrivel up.
