Unless you think so little of your child that they can't tell the difference between reality and fiction it isn't a big deal.

 

It's a pretty big deal considering the foul language and the general setting. I haven't played GTA V myself, but I've played the past GTA games and no way should a child be playing a game like that. It's full of bad role models. Parents see it as just another video game, which is why they buy it for their children. They don't know any better.

Yeah, we should just let our children watch or play whatever they want with no consequences whatsoever.

Good luck hiding anything from kids with the internet these days.

 

When I let my nephew play it I kept an eye on him the entire time. He saw it as nothing more than a car driving/jacking simulator. He was only 5 at the time, though.

If a parent isn't carefully monitoring their child's internet usage, I'm sorry but they're probably a bad parent. Just because it exists doesn't mean we shouldn't try our best to shelter children for it until they're ready.

Teach your children how to handle the world instead of shielding them from it. People have no confidence in their kids anymore.

I mean, if your child is under 13 I don't think they're mature enough to play through the missions of GTA. Even if you're alright with them hearing people swear every ten seconds, I highly doubt at 10 they should be wielding dildos to beat random people to death.

 

There's a difference between "teaching your children to handle the world" and letting them play hooker beating simulator 2015.

 

Maybe I am strict. I just don't think 10 year olds should be given the idea that drugs and booze and strippers are "cool". Now he shoots guns in real life and knows how to be safe with one, so having them in video games is okay by me. He knows he shouldnt go shoot up the neighborhood and I trust that he won't. Idk, I guess I just want to keep him little, kids grow up too fast these days.

Oh Tehachapi is a shithole, but I LOVE Red Rock and Last Chance Canyon which isn't for from you up the 14. There's also a spot just about 8 miles up the 58 called Sand Canyon which is awesome for hiking and star gazing. I found beautiful agates up there.

That might work for a short time but there are only a few people on this forum that would be able to pull off filtering the internet on a kid older than 10.
