@Randomacts I'm lying here in bed thinking about what you said yesterday about kadauchi showing benchmarks showing vanilla js speed over jQuery, and I can't help but wonder whether its due to Chrome's compilation misses caused by polymorphic ES6 functions. I showed performance differences in jsperf in my FB progrming groups between a regular for loop, and the forEach method, and the speed difference was huge when only a few operations were being applied to many elements. A link to the performance test you were talking about would be great.

I frequently think about BB when looking for longer term investment ideas. As in can you have a great theory, which turns out to be right, yet still lose tremendously.

If you got in on the smart phone market early and predicted correctly that everyone would own a smart phone, that prices for premium phones would be in the $6-800 range and the smart phone market would increase from a niche device to having 224m users just in the US. You have one company that has a rather large first mover advantage, has incredible backend infrastructure in place, aligned on an enterprise level with many large companies, has a wealth of IP and R&D that no other company (other than possibly Palm) can match.

By almost every conceivable measure investing in BlackBerry in 2003/04 should have been an absolute home run, and it did actually have a pretty good run up, but then suffered a catastrophic fall of course.
