Big problem is that people are trying to get things out of a relationship that aren't the responsibility of a relationship.

Like when my GF tries to gossip to me about people I've never met and don't care about while I'm trying to write code. ("I'm sorry that your girlfriends aren't available to chat with right now, but I'm really not the right person to talk with about this kind of thing, and I'm trying to remember like 10 actually important things in my mind at the moment...")

I mean I'll be debugging a call stack that's 10+ layers deep, while she decides that if I don't listen to her drone about how horrible Stacey's haircut is, she will be mad at me for the rest of the day because I never listen to her, or something like that.

Yep! For sure. You also just literally have more options and that's not always a bad thing (of course, on the flip side you have ghosting as you said LOL). It's no shocker that when you introduce things like women in the workplace more, you get a higher likelihood of someone who doesn't feel they need to settle down cause they can support themselves and thus don't need to tie down to the nearest decent bro.

I mean, there are so many contributing factors that you can't really have a neat and pretty cause and effect going. People are complex, relationships are more complex cause you're trying to merge 2 people who already are complicated AF in what they want/need/think. My Great Grandma Bunny was married for 50 years, and she told me as a kid that if I didn't live with a man for at least 3 years before marriage or get married before I was 25, she would throttle me for being stupid.

Bunny was a wise, old Grinch and I should have listened to her. She would not object to being called a Grinch, she would find that an extreme compliment in her favor. Bunny was the best.
