Exactly. I tried to make a post looking for help with making a plan towards financial stability and all of them were just assholes. A lot of them just said things like get rid of my dog and drop out of college. I would never do either since I love my dog and I'm not the only owner of him anyways, and I'm not dropping out of college since I'm only a few semesters away from my degree.

Have you considered the option of sending your dog to college instead?

"Get rid of your pet" is only appropriate to tell someone if they are risking being homeless and cannot afford the bare basic necessities (food or urgent medical) for the pet. And, yeah, dropping out of college doesn't mean you get to drop out of your student debt also.

Best thing I ever did was to start a spread sheet of all my expenses. It's the spending on the little things that kill you.

DAVE RAMSEY. His program is harsh but you start watching his YOUTUBE videos, get on a budget, follow his baby steps, don't be a damn fool (I have been with lots of zeros) and you can change your life. Podcast is free and you can learn a lot about finance from listening to his callers.

Even then, honestly, its such trash advice because not only is no one going to listen to it, and but they're certainly not going to listen to the rest of what the person has to say after they just told them to discard probably one of the very few things they have in life that doesn't give 2 craps about their financial situation (I'm assuming cat/dog here, or somewhat high-level pet, since a hamster isn't exactly financially relevant).

Like, who out there is gonna have some Internet stranger tell them to get rid of their best friend of the last three years, the only friend they're going to be able to chill with when they're dead ash broke not being able to go out and do things, and take that seriously?

Is it strictly logical advice? Maybe. But only if the audience is C3PO

Exactly! I was more trying to pay down my credit card. I also have a ton of credit card debt so I need that degree to make enough to pay it off.
I did make a spreadsheet but I haven't really kept up with it, I definitely plan on getting back into that. I recently quit buying monsters at class/work since I realized just how much the $2.50 per can was adding up to. Same with Starbucks and fast food since my girlfriend and I were spending so much money on there.

I also quit bringing my credit cards on the go with my since I was impulse spending so much in my manic states.
Exactly. My puppy and cat help a lot with my mental health on top of being companions. I would never get rid of them.

I've found a few subs that are wonderful, but most of them that I wander into have more turds floating around than a septic tank.
