I'm not a fan of buying insurance.

I don't like having the competing motivation of hoping that something bad happens to me so that my money spent wasn't a waste. It's legalized gambling, but it's "OK", because what you're gambling on is that something bad will probably happen to you. And somehow this makes it "responsible".

The concept of mandatory or near-mandatory insurance in some areas seems very silly to me.

In the HIT, you will be asked to guess the correlation from a scatter plot (with a twist). The game must be played from a desktop or laptop (No mobile support). The actual HIT will require people to be online simultaneously. We will run the HIT twice today with no repeat takers.

HIT expectations:

• Your decision to participate in the experiment is entirely voluntary.
• 45 participates will receive the quals and 36 will play the game.
• The remaining participants who are granted the quals (maximum 9, if everyone shows up on time, which is never the case) will be in the surplus room (in case someone goes idle or fails the attention checks).
• People in the surplus room will be paid the base of $2 and this will not effect their future participation in our HITs.
• The bonus varies across conditions (randomly assigned), as some conditions have longer expected play time (maximum bonus ranges from $2 to $8 based on condition)
• The average pay $14/hr so far.
• People who join the HIT late will receive: "Sorry, we've missed you" message. This is important to avoid the problem of people auto-accepting the HIT without playing immediately. In previous runs, we experienced 3-5 participants that accept the HIT and go idle (i.e., not showing up on time).

If you are to participate and get assigned the qualification, it is critical that you show up on time at the beginning of the time window. Otherwise, it would delay the start of the game for the other participants.

 

I'll take any advice I can get.
I generally don't run many pandas, very rarely do I even hit 5 at the same time. I run the ML, Joe & Dermot search overnight. Up until about 2 weeks ago I would wake up and have 3-5 Joe and a ML every morning by 6am. Recently I'm lucky if I get 2-3 Joe each day by 9 and 3 ML a week. Something's changed and I haven't pinned it down yet. PC on the worker site set for 980 ms, OW turned off at night. PC on www set at the same thing. For the past 3 days I've caught more stuff on the old PC than on worker.

During the day I'll run PC www with the Sergey racy and Dermot, cycle time on 1. I run the PC worker on 1.6 second delay and OW on 6-8 seconds depending on PREs. When 2pm rolls around I'll turn on the C-SATS in worker. 1.12 GID and a general search for the babies. I'll catch those all evening long. Anything else I run a general search on I get zip but no problem with the C-SATS. I've double checked my search settings on them to make sure I haven't gotten something messed up, they seem to look fine.
