I'm looking into a good pair of bluetooth earbuds or headphones. I want to go "true wireless" à la the Apple AirPods, but the alternatives are terrible it seems. Even the new Bose ones are reviewing terribly.

 

Like, this has to be a scam to get my SS#. I don't see what else it could be. I don't even know the name of the company or where they are located and I don't think they can legally have me as a W-2 employee because I don't have any dedicated hours and they have no way to track my hours, and I'm not being paid minimum wage nor having taxes deducted from my earnings with them. I don't even know where the company is located or if it's even in the US, hell, I don't even know the name of the company. I also just said "so what, you guys want me as an actual employee now?" This was the response:

"You would still be an affiliate, that doesn't change anything, we just need that so nobody will need to pay taxes."

......That's not how W-2's or taxes in general work.

 

Its very common for self employed people, they have to file and since they're paying you, this lessens their tax burden

 

I was saving up to get my self a PC that would run Battlegrounds but i'ma just use that money to get 1 of my daughters a switch and then buy them a lot of other useless stuff that they wont play with 1 week after Christmas

 

we need you to fill out this form literally designed for paying taxes so no one has to pay taxes.

But you should be getting 1099 not w-2

Exactly. I even told them "I am a contractor, not an employee. You have to give me a 1099 form." Because otherwise they need to be paying me an hourly or salaried wage that is at least minimum wage. And I don't think they are going to want to do that. I followed ,'s advice and grabbed an EIN number though, so I'll send them the form and see what happens I guess.
