11/11 - Swimming through Saturday!

I was doing like you a dabbling mostly working on the shorter stuff. One thing that frustrated me about that kind of hit was that the requirements varied so much from requestor to requester as to how to format things or handle interruptions, stutters and such. I felt like to actually get anywhere I would need to find a requestor I liked and just stick with them so I didn't have to think so much about the formating, but then I got lucky and picked up a transcription hit and there was some technical issues (new requester) I ended up communicating back and forth with him to get it resolved and even had to get CT to tell him how to do something from the requester end. Long story short he contacted me months later and asked if I was interested in more work so I only do transcriptions for him and they are all classes he gives with one native english speaker talking loudly clearly and no background noise. I'm spoiled now and won't do any on mturk anymore.

 

I haven't done them in a while but they are very nice when I'm trying to make goal. They now equate to "real work" and I have better paying "real work" to do these days lol

This is good advice I have said on here before that when I was new I spent my weekends learning scripts and researching requestors and found it much more financially rewarding then the couple of dollars I missed out on on a slow sunday

 

Is that SpeechPad?

 

I have that Otranscribe wrote down but haven't looked into it. I think I will increase my bag of tricks by learning a bit more about this. I think you always need to be adding to what you know to get better and better at this and really turn it into something you can say, yeah.. I make some decent money.

Oh great one.. any tips that you are willing to share? I suppose I'd say, "Hell NO!" This is my bread and butter keep your little typing fingers off of it! LOL

 

I tried it hated every minute of it and didn't make much money off it.

Then I Grinched about it ( kinda like @Sam ) for a little while then I eventually gave up on it. 430 is tough on this platform so nice job making that much. Thats a heck of a lot more than I could make transcribing.

I do alright transcribing on Crowdsurf on work.crowdsurfwork.com.
With the performance/volume bonuses and a lot of experience with them, they turn out to be decent filler.
But they don't have that "excitement factor" of stumbling around into a batch that's worth a lot of money.
I also love to write code, but there's not really any way I can come up with an excuse to write code for transcription.
The scripts that currently exist basically have everything covered.
