Nah I totally agree with that!!! It's just so weird because like 90% of the time the fashion there trends towards stuff that seriously I have never ever in my life seen people wear in real life, but it seems to be very very common within the thread. Some of it is just so "fashion forward" that it's not even about owning it, but like you'd totally look so out of place in my even ridiculously liberal, diverse town. A lot of the stuff in the current "destroy your ex" thread is kind of how just people in my area dress, I guess? Like somewhat minimalistic "Express" fashion I guess. It just boggles my mind! I can't picture seeing someone out in public in some of the outfits I see on there.

Oh shit, that’s the thread I posted in lol. You can def tell it’s me because well, I think I’m the only person wearing floral LOL.

I mean, I don’t think I wear anything too insane, but I definitely try some more out there trends. I wore like a 90s vampy looking bell sleeved black lace choker dress last year with really deep berry lipstick and black heeled oxfords. It was definitely a bit out there, but not so much anyone was like WOAH WTF DUDE!

Meh. Apart from being dressed in an outfit that’s just an excuse to walk around mostly naked, or something that’s incredibly out of place for a professional environment, I usually don’t raise my eyebrows much, if at all. I think if someone is confident in how they look, good for them!

Cause, I mean, Matt’s Mom rolls her eyes when I step out in 2 floral patterns, a floppy hat, and rose gold glitter sparkle shoes...but I feel fierce AF. I also regularly have some sort of pastel hair color mixed with blonde going on for a couple years now, so, I’m not about to throw any stones.

I’m a little worried you might make fun of me if you saw me on the street now! :emoji_joy:

To add to the above though I guess it's probably just regional. I remember when I moved to a military southern town I was also kind of shocked by the fashion choices.
LOL. I had to go look in the thread and I totally found yours. NAH DUDE that dress is COOL AS HELL. I'd rock that for sure. I'm having SUCH a hard time finding an example of what I'm actually talking about because I just went to this week's WAYWT and the first like 20 posts are things that I would actually wear myself. I guess I'm talking more about stuff like...this? --- I hate to call out one specific person's style but her's is something I frequently see in the sub and frequently praised so obviously it's well liked. And hey - NO hate to someone doing their own thing, I guess I'm just more surprised that tons of people also like it? It's just a very unusual style that I don't find particularly flattering. I am trying to say it as politely as I can lol.

That's a horrible offense unless they know that you yourself have tacos you can also half eat.

I mean, that’s heinous, but I think we all have made horrid fashion choices before LOL. And there are plenty of insane fashion trends through history. I used to wear bright purple eye shadow every day. The shammmmme!

If that’s fashionable though, I should 100% go out in my oversized mismatched pjs stuffed into my janky boots more often!

LOL I dunno but that's exactly the stuff I'm talking about, all in very very similar fashion. I see that way more often than I see stuff I'd actually wear over there. Just very...quirky? I guess? I just don't want to be mean but I see a lot of "Salvation Army non-chic" stuff that sometimes I can't even digest it, and this is coming from someone who is a thrift store fashionista. I just see a lot of stuff over there that people pay top dollar for that shouldn't ever leave a thrift store. I also kind of have a grudge against them right now because there was some "what overhyped thing is actually worth it" thread there and I bought an Icebreaker merino wool pullover based on glowing recommendations there and the thing I received is a thin rag that wouldn't keep me warm in Florida winters. People were touting it as something that would keep me warm if I was hiking the Appalachian, literally. So glad I bought last year's sale instead of this year's full price, at least.

Ymmv of course, but I’ve had good luck with jcrew cashmere or wool sweaters keeping me warm! The orange cashmere one I bought for Halloween was so warm I got too hot that day LOL! I got it off poshmark and it’s super comfy. I have a j crew wool sweater as well for just around the house, it’s a dudes sweater and it’s huge on me- but it’s comfy, it’s warm, and I end up walking the dogs in it cause it holds up well against cold wind.

There will always be people with weird or questionable taste in this world for sure. Some people just have no sense and want to fit into some obscure trend I guess. I hope they find their like minded weird fashion soul mates or whatever, even if I’m laughing my ass off.
