    My formula was:

    - Do lots of CIs.
    - Get lots of approvals from requesters that don't just hand out approvals to everyone (i.e., Rabbit Crowdsourcing).
    - Ask for Masters at least 3 times per week.

Does anyone know if Masters has ever been given to someone with less than 50K approved? I expected more quals to be given out this year, but I thought it might be in December. *crosses fingers*

They gave masters out to some guy on reddit with like 6000 approved and a bunch of rejects once. There's really no making sense of the requirements.

Oh I well recall it, that's why I'm being snotty about Australians today. No reason, just our national inferiority complex.

Gee, I hope there aren't any Aussies lurking here who I'm upsetting now...

They make it very clear that the breadth of requesters you do work for is a criteria.
Nobody ever released that as verified info, but I think it's a pretty bulletproof hypothesis, especially since Amazon hints at it in their own wording all over the place.

Someone who does 50,000 HITs from mostly the same 20 requesters

is significantly less valuable from a "Masters" perspective than

Someone who does 50,000 HITs from 1,000 different requesters.

I always kind of saw it like this....

I remember a year ago someone actual got feedback that said varying the type of hits helped so everyone stared doing bad transcription hts. Then I got it after having maybe one transcription hit in my entire time turking. :dunno:

Cons: Requires a ton of clicks, tedious questions, and a ton of math. I would stay away from this one.

    Kinda.

You have to shift your perspective and think of things from the angle of what the "purpose" is of Masters (hinted at by the fact that it's defaulted in the requester panel).

The "purpose" of Masters isn't for you as a Worker - it's for requesters. Specifically, new requesters. It's meant to ease them into the platform and get them some decent results easily on their first few tries, so that they're excited by the platform and want to post more work.

So in order for them to tell whether you're a good worker to be an ambassador for mTurk to the newbie requsters, you have to prove that you're not a one-trick pony. I mean yeah, you might have a lot of approvals, but even Amazon knows that a lot of approvals aren't even manually reviewed and could just be AA. If I were the one writing the algorithm, I know that I'd exclude any HITs that went to AA from the criteria.

You have to prove that you can understand and do well with HITs in general, not just a few that you like.

I remember a convo in the Grind days that indicated this wasn't true. At least we had Masters who didn't have the variety that I had back then. And less HITs.
