Anyone that thinks they have Masters figured out

 

Fact. My dad got master and he pretty much only did A9s. He had 130k or so I think at the time. My own personal belief with masters is doing a ton of Amazon HITs, since it is their qual.

Amazon qual for doing Amazon HITs... Just a theory, but it seems sound.

It doesn't always have to be either/or in life. Often, it's both/and.

Doesn't mean that there's "no criteria" just because you don't know its ins and outs. It's pretty easy to tell what they're generally looking for. It's a lot like Facebook's EdgeRank and SEO IMO. That's like suggesting that Google sorts search results randomly.

Catching up on the thread post:

Not sure about locking the scroll, but I think the tab scrolling to the top of the page was an issue that popped up in one of the recent chrome updates. Super annoying!

I logged back on to upwork when you posted about it the other day. Doesn't look like I'm qualified for much. It looks like they added extra ratings to the workers...I only qualify for the super newb stuff.

I learned all I need to know about Australians when I went to Bali.

People with less than that have gotten it. I didn't expect them to hand out this many this year. Wasn't there only one batch of masters handed out in 2016?

I would like it if @ChrisTurk would use his affiliate account as a bargaining chip to convince jeff bezos to give everyone here masters and then stop handing out the qual for a few years. If there was a polar bear in charge around here, I could see something like that happening...

 

Yeah he is 70 and retired. He does it for some extra cash to blow / take my mom out.

I also wouldn't be surprised if there's actually a fairly small bar to clear to be masters ready, and then whenever the masters qual day rolls around a lottery picks 100 or however many from that pool, so anybody with 5k and a good rate has a chance, and by the time you have 50/100/150k you've been in the lottery enough times that you get lucky.

You're speculating too, you're just appealing to Authority: "Well, Amazon hints at it all over" when hivemind anecdote in this case is just as good as a few Amazon statements. Everything Amazon does it marketing, they fool people into buying stuff who think they're are god's gift to bargain shopping.

I personally don't take a lot of mTurk's 'guides' as a rule. The entire script ecosystem is meant to get around mTurk's workflow and Amazon is 100% aware of this. So they steer it. What they say you should do is at least one step away from what they want you to do, because a whole community exists to 'hack' their system, legally and within TOS, but still...

In short: My hunch is as good as yours.
