    splishsplash, if you feel like experimenting at some point you could also try
    chrome://flags/#expensive-background-timer-throttling
    where you can simply tick or untick the 'disable' setting to universally get rid of 'throttling' in Chrome.
    I think it handles the situation slightly differently, and might be worth a shot in some cases.
