For a guy, I call that "the shorter side of normal".
Not short enough to actually be "short", but nobody is gonna call you "tall".

I'm 6'0", and I always describe my height as "the taller side of normal".
Nobody ever suggests to me that I should play pro basketball or anything.

 

You people don't understand, its relative to the goal, and the goal is to not end up like this:

Yeah, when he said "short", my brain went right to 5'5-5'6 for some reason. I went from seeing Yosemite Sam, right back to basic white girl average dude.

 

That's one of those free business cards. I bet the logo for the company is on the back, my biz cards are the exact same format. It's like the default format

 

No, once you get that short as a dude, you hit the gym way too often to have any time to write scripts.

I'll have you know I sported plenty. Just nothing that required height. And I was trash at basketball in gym class, besides the running between people quickly part.

 

Americans who are 7 foot or taller have a 17% chance of playing in the NBA. Kinda crazy if you think about it.

Dunno how true this is - and don't feel like researching it - but it's a statistic I've heard before.

This. Dudes get it. 6' is the perfect dude height. Tall enough to have a good frame for sports + dating (even height to chicks on most heel heights), not tall enough to make it ridiculously impossible (225lb minimum) to look aesthetic, can survive all of HS on varsity w/o getting your shit thrown in your face / obliterated by some roided up DB looking to put together his college D3 film. Short enough to not have weird issues down the road w/ back/knees/whatever cause you're a lanky shit.

 

This is useless because it's missing cultural context.
We're not trying to compare ourselves against the malnourished impoverished masses in Africa and India.
Mass immigration from Mexico has driven down the average US height.
The average height of a fully-grown white adult male in the US who has not started to shrink due to age is ~5"10-5"11.
