02/10 - Sweet Saturday!

A couple times a year, I export my OW and sort through each req, look them up to remember who the shit they are and if they're worth still saving or not, then I make a master list in a normal, readable list (or in OW format reqid@name) just so it's easier to make sense of it to save foreverever, then I put it all back in.

It sounds daunting as fuck, but it's surprisingly not too bad, especially with multiple monitors. I can do it in about 2 hours on a slow/lazy Sunday, which includes messing around with other nonsense, and usually I find a few new requesters in the process of searching forums/TO/whatever. Long story short, it's possible and doesn't take nearly as long as it sounds, and I never regret feeling more organized. Goddamnit, I guess I know what I'm doing again soon.

 

I have about 600 or so watchers in my include list.... it would take awhile...

For each requester ID I have to search to find the name first and type that out.

 

My guy and I were in our fenced in yard one night with my pup and we watched from the porch as she leapt over the fence like some kind of gazelle or something, straight into the yard that backed up to ours. Neither of us were agile enough to get over that fence ourselves and she wouldn't come back, so we split up. My guy went one way, I went the opposite way. The plan was to cut her off at the pass. About 30 minutes later, we both ended up at the front door again without said dog. We were sitting on the front porch looking up the number for the ASPCA (I was a little weepy) and trying to figure out where to look next and how late we would be up looking for her when we heard a plaintive bark from the back yard. Yeah, she must have jumped back over while we were wandering around searching, whistling, and calling for her furry ass. She knew it too. I'm sure she heard us hollering The look on that dog's face as she was begging to be released from the yard that she had previously escaped from was the best ever.

 

I don't know about 600, but I have a pretty hefty list too. Copy and paste is fun. It's worth it to just have a complete list saved, but I'm also freakish with organizational stuff so maybe it's not everyone else's cup of tea. I just do know it doesn't take nearly as long as it sounds like it would if you're quick with copy and paste and searching (which... obviously we all are).

 

The main problem is that TO sucks and a good 50% of my stuff (and most of it is worth keeping) is not on TV.

Another 50% of it isn't on TO or TV but still is worth keeping.

 

that's where hitdb used to come in

 

hit tracker should work as well but it takes awhile to scan 250k hits.

When Bearnie got out and got super spooked, I swore I saw him hurl himself over a 6+ foot fence in our back yard. Matt told me I was an idiot, no way could that asthmatic little runt make it over that fence, he must have gone the other way.

Smashcut to the neigbor's dog chasing Bearnie shortly after, and him vaulting the fence in a panic while Matt chased after him yelling, "HOW DID HE DO THAT?! BEARNIE COME BACKKK! YOUR MOM IS GONNA MURDER MEEEE!" The wild goose chase we had to go on to get that adorable idiot back probably took years off my life. Bearnie has not tried to leave without me since his 11 days on the mean streets of Georgia. He will stare out the open door like, "Hell naw, not that scary place again. I require a body guard to go out there." He did jump through a window again, only to immediately jump back inside in a panic. I don't think my cat is bright enough to understand that windows aren't amazing portals to different parts of the house. We've since made it impossible for the cats/dogs to nudge the window open too far, cause they are all clearly a little too dumb to function. The only one who tries to bolt is Holly, but she's slow and lazy.

Never a dull moment with a pet!

We may be getting another baby cat! @dewdrop hit the roller derby tonight, and fell in love with the kittens (about 1yo) that they had there. I'm so excited!!!! We're getting a pretty girl by the name of Penelope. She and Parker SO better get along.
