Honestly depends. I've used a hanging indent, skipped indentation on the first paragraph, ident the first sentence of every paragraph, none at all, etc etc etc. Depends on the client, publication, etc. Most modern manuscripts use block paragraphs, but then you'll always find a bagillion exceptions to that rule.

The only thing you can ever truly count on is that people will bicker to the death about preferences until the end of time, and as soon as you get used to a particular style or rule, someone will just change it again.
