Have you ever thought about getting an on demand one? They heat the water as it is needed and save you beaus coups money. They need 40 AMPS (2 breaker box spots) and you need to have enough cable capacity to run the current, or you can do gas which is much better. I have one and love it.

EDIT2: you can have either gas or electric and it 80 AMPS not 40

 

No, I don't have the wifi one, and that might not be a gas heater option or if it does, I'm guessing a different model. This one runs without electricity, which was what I was looking for, remains working during an outage, something that can't be said for all of them, so not sure wifi would be an option. I don't know how much it honestly costs to run a water heater year-round and how much savings the various energy-saving features really give you, but I can tell you when your water is hot like the Rheem makes it you won't really be thinking about it. That was just a solid purchase.
