Weird...now it works. Must have been a glitch in the CMU matrix. I'm proceeding with caution.

There is a donate link on HN and I suppose that would more or less do the same thing.

Stored in OneNote. These are all new terms to me. Have any good resources for reading about them?

Right now I am just trying to get 10 or 12 phones away from my computer and into a back bedroom.

They actually go to diff things. HN's donations goes to pay for Digital Ocean costs. The paypal that I use for mturk and the one I'd use for MTS is for other things.

I majored in networking in college =P but uh as far as resources for them goes.. I'm not sure..

But yeah it sounds like what you want it an access point with POE (Power over Ethernet) so that you only need to run one cable and you wouldn't have to worry about finding a plug to plug it in.

You could do this even with your current router .. you just with need to buy a POE injector as well.

you are always welcome to say thank you for receiving back about what you deserved for providing to this community but if a time comes for me asking a kindness for polar bears/global warming in your forum, please be welcoming as you were and you should be. Cheers she said.

Nah, don't need POE as I need power for the phones anyway.

Ah true.. what you could get if bandwidth isn't important and it would be easier then running a cable is some powerline adaptors. Those things are a mixed bag if they will work well so be sure that you get it from a place that you can return it. (it depends on the wiring in your home).. Basically they use some black magic and extend your network through the power grid of your home.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power-line_communication

You could then plug a router turned onto access point mode and it should work. *or you can get an actual access point.

Yeah I know how those work (electronic tech and ham radio operator). I have a CAT6 cable and a path for it so I just need to get firmware on the router that supports an access point. The stock firmware's best option is Bridge Mode which I do not want.

yeah bridge mode is gross but not as gross as wireless bridge.

Most routers will be able to do access point mode though if you have any extra laying around. You just need to plug one end into the main router's LAN and then go to the other router's WAN.

I'll be honest though I haven't messed much with the open firmware stuff because it makes my router's LAN speed a lot slower because it loses the ability to use hardware acceleration... I do plan on building a server that I might also have function as a pfsense router in the near future though.
