05/20 - Sweet Sunday!

I woke up with a great surprise that I was award a $66.00 bonus!!!!!

Only to find out later that the requester sent it by mistake and is asking to for me to send it back to him via Mturk, which I don't even know how to do.
Funny enough, this is the SECOND time something like this happened to me. About 3 years ago, another requester mistakenly sent me too much bonus money (I was suppose to get $2.00 instead of $20.00), and I sent back the difference via Paypal. And, yes, I will try to send this $66.00 of mistake bonus money back as well.

Has this happened to anyone else? More than once, even?

 

Should we tell them?

Congratulations, you're now a money launderer! But seriously, you can't refund through mturk and any other method I'm sure breaks some sort of TOS even if you want to be a nice guy.

 

I really wish there was a way to see AA on the new site.

My only concern about keeping the money is if he's vindictive enough to give me a strike on my account of I don't give the money back. Also, I made a screenshot to show I am not joking.

 

You're not the only one he's messed up with, and it's in the ToS for requesters that money is non-refundable. It's his screw up, not yours, and it's more trouble than it's worth to actually send the money back, imo.

 

Most people here are going to give you the same advice. @ThisPoorGuy can bust out the list if you don't believe me.

But in the end, you should do what you are comfortable with. It hasn't happened to me on mturk, but I put it in the same category as when I get too much change back when I buy something. Like I said though, this one is a personal judgement call, because no one can make you give that money back.

Out of curiosity, is it a well known requester?

 

i considered sending my bonus back fro roughly 2 minutes. Then remembered all the times ive ben promised bonuses and never got them. And all the unjust rejections, so aint no way im sending mine back

 

There are plenty of good reasons not to send it back.. but this one makes no sense. You're punishing this guy because of wrongs random others hit you with?

I imagine you'd be mad as fuck if Requesters rejected you for other workers submitting crap data.

 

i'd probably find a way to give it back if it's a requester i like or do a ton of work for. however, all my favorite/regular requesters don't give bonuses

Hi Amazon,

I fucked up and gave 2 grand in bonuses out by accident.

These fucks won't give me back the money that they aren't obligated to! They scammed me!
