I'm only getting 70wpm in typeracer :/ they use commas and shit so that trips me up

 

I can type very fast but unfortunately I'm decently inaccurate myself. An error brings down your WPM a ton. I hit 150 WPM at times but only average about 98 on anything.

 

Yeah when I'm typing on the forums I'm prob close to 150wpm or at least >100 myself ... and that shows as I just click post reply far too often without checking lol

 

They use some rude stuff sometimes. if you havent played that yet welcome to the most strangely addicting thing I've come to know.

I don't like typeracer or similar full sentence tests because they don't really represent a good typist's speed accurately; you can always get something that has an odd construction or nonstandard English word, or unusual hyphenates. Or, you can get a phrase you already know and then you're able to work significantly faster. Either way, it's pretty low in accurately scoring somebody.

That's what I use whenever I want to test a new keyboard or if I'm interviewing somebody; it's a good balance between common English words, permits user corrections to reduce errors, and is overall a good reflection of real world typing speed.
