that's what i kind of hate about schools, but, if anyone's parents/state/government pays for your tuition/schooling, then no one should be complaining. it'll suck for those that has to pay out of pocket or those with no choice to take out loans because their parents wont pay for their schooling even if they have money.

 

I like the EU's setup for stuff. They still have private schools that cost money and shit but the public ones don't just like all school before college here in the states.

We are splitting the down payment (he generally pays way more of the bills and doesn’t care, but I insisted for this specific thing) and Matt’s nest egg is substantially larger than mine. So, the dawning realization that I’m about to drain my savings just hit me and my entire body had the unpleasant reaction with me!

I mean, he buys me out if we ever break up (lol. Hopefully not, but always good to be careful) so I’ll get that moohlah back in that case, but holy hell, seeing years and years and years of savings go woosh was enough to make me queasy for sure.

 

I put 80k down on a 140k house. Mostly because I'm dumb and partly because I was originally planning on just buying a house outright but decided on not getting a fixer-upper. I know that money would probably be better put in investments, but a guaranteed savings of >4% interest isn't all too shabby.

 

Got the kids a couple toys

 

Putting more down is a bad idea in theory but in practice people are awful with money so it works out.

I'm not bad with money by any means. I really hate spending it and I compulsively save to the point of it possibly being a mental disorder. I just like the thought of not having debt and am planning on paying off the remaining balance asap whilst still maximizing my ira contributions.
