Thanks for your feedback, and I'm really sorry that the hit wasn't what you were expecting. We're still piloting this experiment and it's our first time on MTurk-- we're still figuring out what is acceptable, and so I really do apologize if we were off with our payment decisions.



We realized that we had set up the experiment so that average pay was in the range of what MTurk recommends (.10 - .15 per minute), but we hadn't realized that the minimum pay could be well below this amount. As a result, we're changing the experiment so the minimum payment is higher and the bonuses are a smaller amount. We also changed the description so that it is more clear that there is a possibility of earning $0 on the bonus, so that anyone who chooses to sign up for the experiment is clear of what the minimum they could earn. We appreciate your feedback so that we could change our compensation structure to be more in line with the norms on MTurk.



I looked up how you performed and I can see you just got a really unlucky draw on the round for Game 1 (it really is a random draw, so this was just bad luck) and ended up with the minimum payment possible. What we're doing is going back to allthose in the pilot (such as you) and increasing the participation rate so that we're above $.10 per minute. Your final payment should be $2.17 for the 20 minutes you spent on our survey (which we'll amend through the bonus system). I realize thismay still not be what you were expecting, but as it now falls within the recommended payment range, I hope this alleviates your concerns of the experiment.



If you have any additional concerns or suggestions on how we can improve the experiment and your experience with the experiment, please let me know. Thank you again for your comments and helping us improve the payment structure for the survey.
