I've been in 3 states in the last year and they seem not to GAF.

Pretty much. I recommend to requesters to do their own state filtering if it is 100% important to the dataset. If your prejudice for whatever other reason then using MTurk's is good enough (99.8% coverage made up number). Many people have reported getting suspended while turking abroad.

 

will do but they are weird. They gave my masters qual after moving to Canada and a 4 months break. I did some (not a lot) HITs while at Canada to try masters while still having PA-US qual. I think they all care about a bank account which is located at your address.

You have to look at it from their side. If you use a dedicated server with an SSH connection, they're never going to know that. So, people from other countries do this type of shit, and then one day when they forget to make the tunnel their real location is revealed and alas, they're in the phillipines.

So their IP route looks like this:

US->US->US->US->Phillipines.

When you live here and you go on vacation to the Phillipines, yours is going to look like this:

US->US->US->US->Phillipines.

You can see why they take this type of discrepancy very seriously.

 

Seems to be a LOT more common this week too. There have been 2 or 3 so far this week alone.

Oh another issue; we have been using a VPN at our house for more than 3 years to have a specific Turkish IP, 139.179. .... (Bilkent University at Turkey) since we have to connect their data/database 7/24.

We realized that we have been turking with that Turkish IP for 2 years, and now we are scared to change it to our home PA-US IP.

Weird stuff.

Can't give you good advice in that scenario. It may just not have been found yet because their algorithm looks for changes. Still, that seems like it would be always at risk of being banned.
