    The south is the same way. If you have any cajun friends/family they will feed you until you can't walk... plus southern food is just...not healthy anyway. Too bad it seems most people not in Louisiana/south think cajun means "salt". Because anytime I see a seasoning on a store shelf that claims it's "southern" it's just dyed salt lol.

    This is how my pot roast thing turned into a pot roast rager. I've been fussing at everyone, "When is the last time you had a real meal? You look so underfed? HOT POCKETS ARE NOT DINNER! COME TO MY HOUSE THURSDAY!"

    I pretty much grew up in what people claim to be a "southern" family, but our food was always so bland. My dad was the only one who seasoned meat to taste like anything but sometimes he'd over do it. We grew up with salt, pepper, everglades, and season-all :emoji_joy:
    After living with my fiance, his family opened a whole other book and now I've got spices in two cabinets! Sometimes I surprise my family with different foods and they're in shock like 'omg what is this why is it so good' and I'm sitting here like, 'yeah. it's food. with seasonings that aren't salt and pepper. of course it's good.'

    Hey everglades seasoning is popular? A few years ago I spent several months witih friends just dicking around in national parks - and in Ocala - there was this old homeless (by choice) couple who gave us some firewood and Everglades Seasoning for Christmas. Shit's good, but I assumed it was just some obscure seasoning that they got at a gift shop or something.

    have never seen anywhere it since then

    I'm a spice junkie and I'm always chasing the next hot/spicy food. I had to tone my seasoning down because I would kill my wife. Like I'll go to our local BWW and just literally drink the blazing sauce out of a cup to mess with the waitress. People there think it's amazing but I guess I'm numb to it lol.
