Oh god I had a stupid moment. I saw that no one was talking for like 40 minutes and was really confused! Looked down a little further. I had gone back to like page 28...Maybe I need more coffee.

 

I'd like to imagine it's just a bunch of friendly Canadians.

"Hey sorry you missed that field goal, here let me kick it back to you so you can try it again" (kicks it back)

And then they kinda just wrestle to try to give the ball to eachother, and the refs call it a touchdown, not by rule, but just to be considerate.

 

i'm now going to watch this like 50 times with that commentary playing back in my head

 

Yeah, it's even confusing for me...I haven't watched much of the CFL since Flutie and then Jeff Garcia left...just not enough talent to keep my interest.

Long story short, the uprights are in the front of the endzone, and if you miss a field goal and either blast it through the endzone, or the defending team can't get it out of the endzone, then it's called a "rouge" and worth 1 point. Usually the defending team concedes this point because as you can see, putting the ball back in play like that can lead to a touchdown. Since that game was tied, the Argos had to try and boot it out. The Als tried to boot it back in to get that 1 point, which I think they were allowed to do because it was behind the original line of scrimmage. The Argos then attempted to boot it back out and----oh god, I've gone cross-eyed.

Wait.. why are there different rules? And why are they so ....... I don't have a nice euphemism here.. I've always just assumed CFL was just a Canadian version of the NFL.. its actually a different game? WTF
